KUALA LUMPUR, 30 January 2019 – Fusionex, an established multi-award-winning data technology provider, was an official technology partner for CIMB’s 3D Conquest; a competition opened to young ASEAN trailblazers who believe their talents and ideas can revolutionize the banking world.

The hackathon amassed around 2,500 participants in the form of 715 teams from across ASEAN to compete in three different tracks: Data Science, FinTech, and Coding. The teams were shortlisted over local, in-country levels, with the competition culminating in the regional-level Grand Finale in Kuala Lumpur.

As one of the competition’s partners in its Data Science track, Fusionex enabled its flagship Big Data Analytics platform, Fusionex GIANT, for the competitors to access in creating their innovative technological solutions to develop working prototypes and tackle the various problem statements involved. Fusionex GIANT is an advanced analytics and data discovery platform that allows businesses to derive valuable insights from data and take advantage of organizational and market trends while sparing users from the complexities of big data technology.

During the competition, the students worked on solving credit underwriting issues that involved analyzing cross-industry data including banking and non-banking data and utilized GIANT to accurately predict the risk behavior of banking customers. As a fully-supportive partner, Fusionex provided guidance in the form of online tutorials and mentorship as well as answering questions posed by the participants. Fusionex was also involved in judging the solutions produced by the students, evaluating them based on their pitch presentations.

Fusionex has been a key player in aiding the Malaysian government’s digitalisation efforts in modernizing the public and private sector, to develop a new class of data professionals. Fusionex has also consistently supported the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC)’s goal of producing 20,000 data science professionals by 2020.

Fusionex Senior Vice President, James Houng said: “This talented group of students assembled from all over ASEAN will contribute to the talent pool of the region’s key technology drivers. As an innovative digital company, Fusionex is ever willing to equip youth with technology and guide them to achieve great things.
